Connecticut Reads Governor's Summer Reading Challenge

Make A Book Suggestion! The form closes March 6th.

Good morning!

Many of you may have seen and responded to a survey that was sent out about the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge (GSRC). The GSRC first began in 1996 and has been carried on by Governor’s in Connecticut and will continue this year.
This summer will be the 30th Anniversary of the program and as The CT State Library (CSL) has assumed development and implementation of the program, we’re asking for input from those on the front lines.
Thank you for filling out our previous survey! We appreciate your time and thoughtful responses. Results indicated libraries would like to see adjustments to the reading list. This year CSL will be creating a reading list separated by grade level and genre and at the request of survey responders we would like your suggestions!
Based on your feedback, we ask that all suggestions have original US publication dates of 2021 to today, represent a variety of voices and experiences, and are fun exciting reads. We also ask that when making suggestions be mindful of availability, taking into consideration book distributors and programs like borrowIT, findIT, requestIT, deliverIT, and consortiums.
Note that while the layout of the form may appear to be constricted in the requests for grade and genre, it is designed in the best manner for the CSL team to manage a swath of book suggestions and have the list ready in a timely manner (before the end of April).
With your feedback, we hope to curate lists that can support as many summer reading programs as possible and get youth in CT excited about reading!! And remember, you can suggest as many titles as your heart desires!!
Note: The lists will include titles from this year’s All CT Reads and Nutmeg Nominees and suggested titles do not have to connect to the summer reading theme.

Make A Book Suggestion! The form closes March 6th.
