Jeré Ulmer is the Media Specialist at Ridge Hill School in Hamden and was recently selected as Hamden's District Teacher of the Year!

I'm not sure this has been posted to this listserv, but I wanted to make sure she gets her due; we very much value working alongside her in Hamden.

Subject: FW: Hamden Public School’s Teacher of the Year

It is with great pride that we announce Mrs. Jere Ulmer as Hamden Public School’s Teacher of the Year!  This honor reflects her strong commitment to her students, her colleagues, and the art of teaching.

Mrs. Ulmer has the unique opportunity to work with every child each week and she maximizes this opportunity in extraordinary ways. She knows her students deeply, understanding their interests, strengths, and areas for growth. Mrs. Ulmer thoughtfully designs lessons that meet students where they are, while also challenging them to think critically, explore new ideas, and grow as learners. Her instruction is purposeful, engaging, and rooted in a deep understanding of both literacy and media skills, exposing students to topics and literature they might not otherwise encounter.

Beyond her exceptional instructional practice, Mrs. Ulmer's impact is felt in every corner of the school community. She goes above and beyond to build meaningful relationships with students, whether greeting them in hallways, assisting during dismissal, or welcoming them during open book exchange. Her interactions are warm, genuine, and inspiring, exactly the kind of connection every family hopes their child experiences in school.  She actively participates in school events and works tirelessly to enrich our students' experiences.  As a valued member of our Literacy Committee, she has played a key role in bringing engaging opportunities such as author visits into our school, broadening our students' horizons and fostering a love of reading and learning.

Congratulations, Mrs. Ulmer, on this well-earned recognition.
