Dreaming about working in a library?
It’s happened to many of us! As the summer begins and the days are longer, now might be the time to dream about new adventures to start in the fall. Maybe enrolling in the 100% online & asynchronous
Library Technology Certificate Program at CT State Three Rivers is your next step?!
Fall 2026 classes begin on August 27!
-
What we are:
Our program is a 27-30 credit, fully online and asynchronous, Library Technology Certificate program. We are recognized by ALA-APA (American Library Association - Allied Professional Association) as an approved provider of library technology courses for library
support staff. We welcome part-time and full-time students.
We are not a graduate program. However, professional librarians have taken a course or two in our program to refresh their practical skills. In addition, many of our graduates who come to us with a bachelor's degree already will choose to continue their library
science studies at the graduate level. Our program is a great bridge for career changers who love libraries but who have never worked in libraries.
-
We welcome teachers who have gone through the ARCLMS program and want to strengthen their library specific skills.

LIBR 1025 - Digital Media Credits: 3
In this course students will explore the role of digital media in the field of Library Science by looking at best practices and by creating original media content. Students will be introduced to and create a variety of digital file formats including audio,
image, and video. They will look at these files using a variety of available software and applications. Students will be required to create their own original digital content using personal devices such as, but not limited to, digital video recorders, digital
audio recorders, laptops, mobile phones, and/or tablets. The hardware will not be provided for the students, so access to some or all of the above-mentioned devices is a requirement for this course. An emphasis will be placed on the ethical use of all digital
