Good afternoon, colleagues!

My name is Olivia Bentley, and I am a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) student at Southern Connecticut State University. I am conducting a research study as part of my special project, titled “Print and eBook Use Among High School Students: Circulation Patterns and School Librarians' Observations.”

The purpose of this study is to better understand how reading format preferences can be used as a factor, among other considerations, to determine how to allocate the library budget to best serve students and staff. The data found could potentially reveal if local school libraries are sufficiently supporting their students’ needs.

If you are a High School Library Media Specialist, you are invited to participate in this study. Participation involves completing a survey about reading format preferences of eBooks or physical books. Participation should take approximately 10 minutes.

Your participation is voluntary, and your responses will be kept completely confidential. No identifying information (such as name or library) will be included in any publications resulting from this study.

If you have any questions about this study, please contact me at bentleyo1@southernct.edu or my faculty advisor, Oghenere Gabriel Salubi, Ph.D, at salubio1@southernct.edu.

If you consent to participating, please fill out this Google Form HERE at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for considering this request. Your insights as a High School Library Media Specialist are invaluable in helping us better understand how libraries can curate their collections to best support student needs and preferences.

Sincerely,

Olivia Bentley
