Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Tampa Bay Parrot Heads!!

Listed below are some volunteer opportunities. Please follow directions listed to volunteer.

Our November projects are mostly full, so here are a few December projects which are limited to a maximum of ten volunteers from your group. Please let me know if you all are interested or if you have any questions. Thank you!

December 1, 9-11 am: native grass harvest project at Port Manatee, 14495 Harllee Road, Palmetto, FL 34221-9620. This is a muddy project, you will get wet & dirty! You'll need to wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty. Wear shoes that tie to your feet. Do not wear flip flops or crocs. Bring a towel to dry off and a plastic bag to put your wet shoes in when finished. Bring a change of shoes and clothes if you like. Please bring a water bottle to fill up and carry with you. We will have a cooler of water to refill your bottle. Wear a hat, sunscreen, bug spray and bring garden gloves. Bring a snack!

December 2 & 3, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.: installation of reef balls at MacDill Air Force Base. Although this is a heavy project as reef balls weigh 200 pounds each, there will be tasks for all physical capabilities. We'll be unloading reef balls via dollies to be placed on the shoreline. I'd need drivers license info from all volunteers a few weeks prior to the project for security clearance. December 6 & 13, 9 a.m. - noon: oyster reef ball construction at Tampa Bay Watch in Tierra Verde. The project involves pouring marine friendly concrete into a fiberglass mold to create oyster reef balls and taking apart the molds that were previously poured. Remember to wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty! Used gloves will be provided, but bring your own if you prefer.
