It's all about the music. The music was in search of a name, a name that was a blend of dreams, and the escape from the reality of living in the " Real World ".
Buffett was at the front line with his songs, and inspired others to " follow in my wake" with the lyrics in his songs. With Jerry Jeff Walker and Key West as a compass his style was different, a little country ,a little folk, he was living in 3/4 time. A long list of " Founders " are on Jack's list, from ones still performing, ones who are now doing " real jobs " for various reasons, a few retired and seeing their grandkids, some have just " passed on" and are with bands in the sky. But we have a few that are still with us and playing the " music we know by heart " and music that we will hear for the first time that will be our new favorite song.
When asked what defines our music Trop-Rock I have heard it's the Artist, the instruments, it's the sound of drums, it's the rhythm, it's the bongos, and even you have to be from an Island. Jack cut's through all of the items mentioned above and puts them under one large " Umbrella " . It's the lyrics, the words that evoke a mental photo of escapism from your boring reality. It's not the Cowboy Hat , the Boots or the Twang". It's the LYRICS and you can't argue with a Founder.
Gate opens at noon. Cash donation pp to the Artist. Lawn chairs and bring your favorite drink (alcohol) is allowed. A dish or snack to share for potluck.
Rain or shine.
