Dear LaDonna and Dorothy,

I hope you and your families are doing well during this difficult time in our world. I wanted to bring you up to date with some CMS news. Our CMS Fellowship and Awards Committee has announced the 2020-2021 CMS Graduate Student Endowed Fellowship Recipients.  The winner of the Tampa Bay Parrot Head Fellowship is Laura Carvalho Britto C. Azevdo.  A profile about Laura can be found here:  https://www.marine.usf.edu/student-vignettes/laura-azevedo/

I also wanted to share some positive and hopeful stories with you in the links below.   As you may know, CMS has been involved in collecting and donating personal protective equipment to help fight the virus in St. Pete, and USF has been producing 3-D printed nasal swabs and also face shields. President Currall’s United Support Fund for students in need as a result of the pandemic has raised almost $280,000 in three weeks. Over 260 students have received funds so far, and there are hundreds of applications being reviewed.

We appreciate the Parrot Head Parrot Head Club’s continued support for the College of Marine Science.  I look forward to introducing you to Laura at a club meeting in the fall.  In the meantime, please take care and stay safe.

Warm regards,

Laurie
