Employee Health owns the policy. We also assess the employee (our patient), apply and enforce the restrictions.
All of our policies related to infection prevention and control in employees go through Infection Prevention and Control Committee for approval after our medical director approves them.

Our org does the same, policy is owned by Infection Prevention but Employee Health manages (enforces) the restrictions/exposure follow up etc.

Colleagues:
In your respective organizations, who "owns" the policy with respect to work restrictions for healthcare workers associated with communicable/infectious disease exposures or infections. While I recognize that employee health, on a case by case basis, may have to be the one to assign restrictions (including placing some personnel off work during infectious periods), is the policy itself "owned" (and thereby periodically reviewed/updated) by HR, Infection Control or Employee Health?
thanks

Revisions made through employee health and lives in employee health procedure manual but revisions approved through Infection Prevention Committee and triennial review there as well.
Previously lived in Infection Prevention manual but their scope so broad at our institution that employee health was more in tune to updating as needed so it was moved a number of years ago.

Employee Health owns the policy and Infection Control reviews annually and makes revisions as necessary. Employee Health Nurses and Infection Preventionists have authority to enforce. Human Resources reviews and provides input on the provisions that address employee time off.

Occupational and Employee Health at UCLA owns the setting of restrictions and off work periods for infectious disease exposures for employees. We do not have a policy on this specific subject. We do partner on many policies; influenza vaccine, TdaP, airborne transmissible disease and BBP for which I update and so does Infection Prevention and we must both agree on revisions.
