Hi Terri, sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I wanted to confirm with Surgical Services Director about the questions.  Most RN and Tech will double glove for all procedure.  It is not mandatory but Best Practice. He said about 90% of his staff double glove for all procedure.

1.        Do you mandate double gloving in the OR - No. Employees only.

2.       Do you use blunt needles for fascia suturing - Surgeon preference

3.       Do you use a safe zone in the OR for sharp items - No

4.       Do you use hands free techniques for passing of sharps - Yes for patients with known infection - otherwise CST preference

5.       What safety devices are they utilizing in the OR (scalpels?, needles?).  - Scalpel knife holder, needle boards
