Mayo has a nice overview of plus and minus. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-pressure/expert-answers/wrist-blood-pressure-monitors/FAQ-20057802
Any measurement device must be used properly (ie body position and level of measuring meter) and needs to be checked and calibrated periodically by a biomed technician.
I always try to remember that what I am actually doing in measuring BP is measuring the pressure in mmHg of a 4 chamber hydraulic pump a (heart systolic) and pressure within flexible hydraulic tubing (diastolic). As such. measuring device accuracy will vary depending on height of device in relation to the pump (systolic accuracy) and distance from the pump (systolic and diastolic accuracy).
Hope this helps.Deb
