In our facility, both the HCW and the source patient sign consents to have BBP exposure lab work done.  If the source patient refuses, they sign the refusal portion that is on the consent.  As part of the source consent, there is an area that addresses if they want their results sent to their PCP.  They can indicate if they do/do not want their results sent to their PCP.  There is a place for them to indicate who their PCP is.  We do not send the source their results directly as the results need a medical interpretation.

I have a question regarding needlestick source patient testing. In your facility, do you have the source consent to testing for Hep B surface antigen and Hep C testing? Do you have the source sign a consent to have their Hep B surface antigen and Hep C tests results released to the recipient?
