[MCOH-EH] Pre-Placement Physicals

[Sampson, Deborah]

Since many nurses receive in depth education in physical assessment, it is within the scope of practice nationwide for nurses with this level of education to do hands on exams. Indeed, many Occupational Health nurses do these often.

Our preplacement physicals are done by physicians and MLP's; this includes detailed medical/work/immunization history.
Nurses perform all pre-employment testing and give immunizations if needed.

I don't think nurses should be performing hands-on physical exams; I believe this was part of the question in the initial email.

We do not have anyone here who is a ‘mid level’.
We do have professional registered nurses who are responsible for pre-employment screening and a seasoned OH APRN for any complex or unusual situations.
