We require our medical staff to follow titer and immunization requirements of all employees. We do not require annual TB screening except for a symptom survey for our past positive employees. We are in the process of relooking at what we do for Locum Tenens. At this time we require the same titer and immunization requirements. We require annual TB screening. We screen all employees have a Hepatitis C antibody done upon hire. We require Locums to have the Hep C antibody every 6 months if they have had employment in another organization during that 6 month period. Although CDC does not require this the concern was we do not know their exposure history and do not want to buy a positive Hepatitis C.
Does anyone else do Hepatitis C testing and if so do you include Locums and how frequently do you test?

Sadly we do not for medical staff who are not hospital employees. The majority of MD medical staff are faculty of the school of medicine and at re-credentialing they only must comply with the TB surveillance every 2 years. If non- compliant with TB or flu they are no able to work. The flu immunization is required every year however and those who were house staff here and at most medical centers did the full immunization titer drill at onboarding and so imperfect as it is it is not a bad as it looks at first. It would be far better for all new faculty to onboard through occupational health per our requirements for health system employees so I applaud your efforts. Warner

? Do any of your organizations require compliance with your immunization requirements for active/inactive medical staff/LIPs during initial credentialing or recredentialing?
? Do you provide this service in your occupational/employee health department?
? Do you charge the medical staff or LIPs for this service or provide it free?
? What do you do if the do not comply..does it hold up their credentialing?
We are proposing to make this part of the credentialing packet. We have always required it, but didn?t sink any teeth into the program and have a dismal compliance rate as we were only requiring an attestation to be signed without documentation. Would appreciate any guidance in this area. Thank you!!!

We require consents for all vaccines. For the mass flu events we have signable consents on the iPads we use.
