Our organization has been and is currently going through this type of growth. We tb test (by mantoux) via a blitz fashion. We have a massive blitz and get 95% of our staff (3600 or so) done during the month of march. This allows me to maximize my resources. I only have 2 full time nurses and myself full time nurse manager. However, I use 3 PRN nurses that work for me during blitz events to roam to off sites. We make one round to place and one round to read the tests. We do not do blood testing d/t the cost as we currently do not have a machine in house to do it thus it is a costly send out. I have done ROI but lab not ready to
Jump yet. We went electronic one year ago December so still working through making our blitz events more efficient but it works for us because then all year we aren't tracking compliance.....we can focus on our day to day on boarding, BBF follow up, and injury Mgmt which we do all inhouse.
Thanks!!

In January 2009 we switched all TB surveillance testing to QuantiFERON and our workload decreased precipitously, our onboarding delays dropped in parallel, and tracking was no longer an issue.
