Sorry for late response. Needed to get information as set up was before my time.
Budget request made for PAPR’s citing;

· Compliance issues with fit-testing put organization at risk for being cited

· PAPR components did not exceed $3,000 per piece (not a capital expense)

· Reduced hours needed for fit testing program
Later CAPR’s were brought in due to:

· Code team complaints of PAPR’s being bulky and difficult to don quickly

· After supplying to code team, more were brought in due to lighter weight, and easier to don
Additionally equipment was being purchased before budgeting concerns were tightened to what they are now.
Infection Control/Employee Health provide new hire training for CAPR’s & PAPR’s.

Therese

Do you have any information that you could share on how you made the transition and justification since it could be viewed as costly. Also any issues from infection prevention and control in doing this? Thanks

We use combination of CAPR & PAPRs. CAPR’s for inpatient, PAPR’s for surgical, Primary care clinics and satellite Urgent Care / ED’s. N95’s for MRI staff.

Has anyone converted to almost all PAPR use versus N-95s? Recent DNV surveyor made a suggestion that our organization may want to explore this to almost eliminate the need for fit testing.
