[MCOH-EH] Transition from N-95 respirators to PAPRs

Respirator training – which must cover topics beyond just how to put the respirator on correctly – must be done annually.

Medical clearance is required before wearing a respirator and then at an interval determined by a licensed healthcare professional (preferably one with expertise in respirators). Medical clearance must include completing the questions indicated in the OSHA standard and be reviewed by a licensed healthcare professional, who may clear the employee or require an in-person evaluation (the latter would be if their answers suggest they may not be able to wear the respirator).

We have been talking about going this route as we are in an area with very low incidence of TB.
It was my understanding that the training can be done one time and the annual medical clearance can be done through a computer based program therefore eliminating the need for one on one sessions. Can anyone shed light on this?

We have not but use a lot of PAPRs. Still have to train and medically clear.

Has anyone converted to almost all PAPR use versus N-95s? Recent DNV surveyor made a suggestion that our organization may want to explore this to almost eliminate the need for fit testing.
