[MCOH-EH] Policies-procedures around requiring employees to have clearance from occupational health when off work from sickness

Our policy is very similar Jen but the challenge I have is that many to not follow the policy. Are your managers really good about holding the employees accountable to come and see/call you?

CAUTION: EXTERNAL EMAIL

Our policy states that employees that are off from work for three days or more need to make contact with employee health before returning to work. I do not necessarily have to see the employee in person, but will need to talk to them to assess if they are able to return to work or if they need a return to work note.

When someone is off from FMLA, they must see me in employee health before returning to work. They have to bring in a note from the physician stating they can return to work. I then assess to make sure they are safe to return and meet the physical demands of their job. When someone is off on FMLA intermittently, I do not see them unless it has been 3 days or more.

Thanks,

Jen

Everyone, does anyone have policies-procedures around requiring employees to have a medical clearance visit at occupational health when off work from personal sickness or personal injury?

Does your organization approach FMLA leave differently for return to work? Intermittent versus continuous?

Do you make exceptions for certain pre-approved conditions?

Thank you.
