[MCOH-EH] PT EVALS

We only do pre-placement evals on a few employees. We do those in CP because they wear masks while lifting and also our facilities workers.
There was an evaluation done about 10 years ago and since no one was ever denied positions in any of the clinical areas the pre-employment screening was cut sown considerable along with any of the physical capacity evals. All employees agree to the job descriptions which state the physical requirements for the job.
I must say that we have had a few candidates get injured and say that they can't lift that much. When we point out that they signed a JD saying that they could they generally say that they signed it to get the job. It is very rare that this happens, we hire about 1000 people a year and in the last 8 years there has only been about 6 or 7 people who have filed work comp claims.

I am interested in how many hospitals do pre-place physical therapy evaluations on pre hire candidates. Could you please tell me if you perform these evals and how many pounds the pre-place candidate needs to lift? We do physical therapy evaluations on pre-place assessments that are going to be in direct patient care. The lifting requirement is 50 pounds for our facility. I am wondering if we should continue to do them as I am not sure of the advantage of having them done. We have done them for the past 10 years and no one has been rejected even if they cannot lift the 50 pound requirement. Some have refused due to pregnancy and have returned after their term to do the physical therapy eval piece, however we have let them work without passing the pt eval. Any input is greatly appreciated.
