That article causing a lot of our employees to ask for it. This study is fairly new, so we are following CDC recommendations below. We are offering flublok to those with egg allergies.
Are any of the available flu vaccines recommended over the others?
For the 2018-2019 flu season, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)(https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/acip/index.html)<https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/acip/index.html> recommends annual influenza vaccination for everyone 6 months and older with any licensed age-appropriate flu vaccine including inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV), recombinant influenza vaccine (RIV4) or live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV4) with no preference expressed for any one vaccine over another
Hope that helps!

________________________________
We have just recently been made aware of the June 2017 NEJM article that found that Flublok is 30% more effective than the standard egg-grown flu vaccine for people aged 50-64. What are other institutions doing? Are you offering or recommending Flublok to this age group or relying on the egg-grown variety? We are aware that CDC does not have a preferential recommendation for one flu vaccine over another. Thanks for your thoughts and help! Best, Tim
