[MCOH-EH] testing healthcare workers

We tested 13 of our positive HCW with both nasopharyngeal and nasal swabs on the retest. 12 NP swabs were still positive and only one nasal swab was positive out of the 13. We got a good specimen as we used one nasal swab to swab both nares as far back as possible and twisted for 3-5 seconds and they were still negative.

Our lab is validating saliva testing now, but our esoteric director said her contacts have told her the saliva test is has less sensitivity that the nasopharngeal swab and we should expect more false negatives.

WARNING: This email came from an external source outside of Tampa General Hospital.
What experience do you have with accuracy of nasal swab accuracy compared to nasopharyngeal, saliva etc??

For any of you testing your own workers, what method are you using, and do you feel you are getting accuracy?
