Thank you! So we DO need physical distancing AND masks. That’s what I was wondering.
We eliminated that “social” thing as best we can at our hospital and school.
Merci,
W

Subject: [EXTERNAL] RE: Question re: Mask studies
Hi Wendy, not sure on the last question, but in the metanalysis they did a regression so whether the subjects were masked or not was taken into account and the physical distancing was found independently associated with reduced transmission risk.
And, I agree with the physical distancing terminology! Social distancing sounds so sad.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [MCOH-EH] Question re: Mask studies
I hope this question isn’t foolish: I am advising local schools and want to make sure I have this right.
I have reviewed the Lancet article, good but limited as all meta-analyses are by the variety of studies and quality of those reports.
Would someone clarify the physical distancing (we should advocate for that language rather than social distancing, whatever that is) benefits at 1m vs. 2m vs. more… are those analyzed when both parties are wearing masks? Or are they without masks? I assume the latter but am not sure.
Are there any studies you’re aware of regarding physical distance efficacy with dual mask use?
Thanks,
Wendy

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [occ-env-med-l] Mask studies
I have had people asking me about good, solid, scientific studies on either side of the question whether to wear a mask or not. Does anybody have good quality studies they could recommend?
Thanks,
