[MCOH-EH] [EXTERNAL] HCP Baseline TB Testing for Onboarding Deferral 4 Weeks Post completion of 2 dose COVID-19 mRNA vaccine

After extensive discussions with CDC colleagues, we can see that there is no evidence of cross-reaction between an IGRA and a vaccine. This recommendation is a holdover from TSTs and live virus vaccines in the 1970s.

We also are not delaying any testing or onboarding.

We are not delaying. We are going ahead and drawing the QFT, then repeat 4 weeks after vaccination. We have not seen any effect on results.

If you are using IGRA for baseline TB testing, are you deferring at onboarding or entry into your facility until the HCP is 4 weeks post completion of a two dose mRNA?

If you are not delaying, do you feel the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine could have had a potential effect on any HCP IGRA test results during the first 4 weeks after COVID-19 vaccination?
