Good afternoon.

We conduct pre-employment screenings on all candidates. We use a rapid 10 panel with extended opiates in my department and if results are a non-negative, it is sent to reference lab for GCMS confirmation. LabCorp (LC) is our reference lab and we have a MRO review post results. We also conduct a rapid cotinine test for biometrics and insurance purposes. If candidate disputes the results stating no history of, it is sent to LC for confirmation. All of my staff are certified collectors and conduct non DOT testing.
We also screen for other reasons outside of pre-employment. The other screenings are sent to LC for resulting, as we only use the rapid tests for pre-employment or RTW for those out >90 days.

Hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me for additional information

Our health system is evaluating our drug testing program and was interested in what other health care systems were doing.
Do you do drug testing?
Is it part of your preplacement process and is it a rate limiting step?
Do you outsource to a Labcorp or a Qwest type vendor?
Do you test for nicotine and if you do what do you do with the results?
Thank you very much for your input.
