[MCOH-EH] [EXTERNAL] Re: EMRs for large medical center occupational health

We were given the ability to use Epic, but would need everyone to sign a HIPAA auth allowing us to see vaccines/allergies. We had this process for Covid Vaccinations as that was the easiest way to communicate with the state regarding vax status. The problem is that we had people that would NOT sign. So you end up having two systems and that is more of a nightmare than just paper. The HIPAA auth is nice, but in reality, you can see everything on an employee’s Epic chart. We ended up with ReadySet from Cority, and while no system is perfect, it is a reasonably priced alternative that is easy to use. We like the employee portal/supervisor portal especially.

In my organization I’m not able to use EPIC for Occ Health, so I’m on paper unfortunately. The only things I’m able to use EPIC for is labs, and I’m not allowed to enter the orders, only have them cc’d into my in basket. My use of EPIC has been far from epic. I would love to hear work-arounds, or what other organizations have who also use EPIC for their EHR and what they use for their Occ Health programs.

I have suggested to my organization that employees have a separate “occ health” account or sign a HIPPA waiver so I’d be allowed in their charts, both ideas have been shot down. I’ve looked into getting another system in place like Agility, also shut down, which is why I’m stuck on paper.

I would be interested to hear how those who use EPIC, are finding it for Occ Health. I understand they have been developing this application so looking for feedback.

I know that this topic has been covered before and I have reviewed the responses. However, I am interested in learning about large multihospital employee health care experience with EMRs –specifically Cority and Enterprise Health.
