[MCOH-EH] Work injury/illness causation

It happened to me some time ago. I was asked not only not to discuss the injury with the employee, but also to minimize the diagnostic scope as mitigate future costs. I refused and subsequently my contract was terminated directly because of my refusal. I have never regretted that stance; principles should trump payments.

Incidentally, as time progressed, the case went to trial and I testified on behalf of the claimant. It took the jurors 5 minutes to grant him everything.

It's an interesting question. I have never been asked to do so.

Subject: [External] [MCOH-EH] Work injury/illness causation

Has anyone in this group encountered the employer telling the occupational health medical provider (physician, NP/PA, or nurse) that they are not to opine on the causation of an injury or illness, either in counseling the injured/ill worker or in medical documentation of the illness/injury?

Anything anyone is able to share would be very helpful.

Thanks!
