Phil,
An approach we have taken at several Boston hospitals is to provide reproductive consultations as 1st step in 1st trimester. If still concerned then temporary removal option available thru ADA.

Sorry Ron , I was not clear. They are requesting to not have the task of working with chemo drugs despite the appropriate PPE. They want to be reassigned. This creates a hardship for staffing. The Oncology Nursing Society has recommended that they ask for this accommodation even if proper PPE is provided. The recommendation is for those who contemplate getting pregnant, are pregnant and breast feeding.

Hi Phil,
Forgive me if I am arriving late to the party, but what accommodations are you asking about? Vaccine, respirator, material handling, etc.?

Hello colleagues,
We are having challenges with employees request for an accommodation because of breastfeeding or pregnancy. Pregnancy in and of itself is not a disability. We have taken the regulatory route in that we do not accommodate unless there other co-morbidities. WE provide the appropriate PPE.

ONS has published that nurses should ask for an accommodation. Realizing this is not a regulatory agency. We are challenged to accommodate.

I would appreciate best practices at your institutions.

Thanks,
