I am interested in what others are doing as well.
We do not ask for or require anything until the candidate has signed their job offer and description. At that time we start gathering information as a pre-employment post-offer (POPP) process asking for all immunizations, screenings, and testing needed before starting. We require all of it done 10 days before their set start date. If not done by the deadline, the candidate will be moved out to the next start date available.
We do not do UDS as we use OraSure oral swabbing for both drug and alcohol testing usually on their start date. The drug test a few days for the results to return. We are finding a need to change our drug and alcohol testing as we unfortunately are seeing a rise in positives. We feel we need to know the status before the employee comes to start working.
Best Wishes, Stay Safe, and May you Prosper,

Hello,
I am wondering how other Employee health nurses are conducting their pre-employment testing? Currently we are having the new employee come in for UDS and TB test on first day of hire. This process proposes a problem if the new hire does not pass UDS . Also, if TB is positive and need further testing, chest X-ray. The employee can be working for 1-2 weeks before the results come in and costing hospital money. The HR department states that BOLI new regulations were passed that in state of Oregon any pre-employment activities are considered compensable.
How are other hospitals and CAH conducting and still under the new regulations.
Thank you,
