Hello,

I asked our EH provider to respond to your question. See below:

Hi my name is Laura and I am a Nurse Practitioner and have worked in occupational medicine for the last 10 years.

I do request a note from the prescribing provider as to the stability and compliance of the individual. However, depending on the job category, depends on if I determine it as a safety sensitive position that would be at an increased risk of an adverse occurrence, as to the determination.

Thanks,

Laura

Best Regards,

Tina

Good afternoon, everyone,

Do any of you routinely ask about the use of controlled substances during pre-placement medical assessments?

If so, do you issue "Dear doctor" letters on occasion for clearance purposes and/or ask the candidate that they attest that they are using the controlled substance according to a prescription and prescriber's instructions, and that in their opinion they can safely perform their essential job functions?

I am curious about this for benchmarking purposes.

Thank you.

PS. It was great seeing many of you at AOHC this year. What a great conference!
