We encourage, promote and provide, but don’t require, annual flu vaccination. Staff are required to participate in the flu program by completing training and must actively decline vaccine if they aren’t vaccinated.

We also are not accepting self administered flu mist. Very difficult to assure dose compliance. when self administered Our ID and IP and C don’t want flu mist at all because of potential risk of viral transmission to immunocompromised patients or those in the NICU. We’re concerned with increasing vaccine hesitancy masquerading as religious exemption request and we’re struggling with getting ahead of it. We’ve seen more over the last few years. I’m pretty sure the EEOC carves out patient safety as a reason to accommodate but keeping hcw away from patients during flu season sounds a “no go” from operational perspective. Requiring masking from a transmission perspective works but managing compliance is a nightmare. How are others handling??

Hi, is your healthsystem/employer accepting the new 25/26 FluMist self administered vaccine? If so, what is being accepted as proof of vaccine (if you require proof of vaccine)?
Thanks,
