Colleagues, judging by the number of requests Laura is receiving, there is some interest in the topic.
The original question in this string asked for sharing on whether or not blood pressure is included in the new employee onboarding exam. I’d appreciate any information you can provide.
Thanks,
Rich

External Email - Use Caution
Thank you so much for the interest in my NP’s thesis. There were several requests for further information. She is currently working on the final document to submit for publication to the Journal of Nursing Scholarshp.
The project involved an educational session for our physician, NP, and PA colleagues to implement a two-question anxiety assessment adapted from the GAD-7 with our occupational health patients (pre-employment candidates and external candidates as well as our work injury/work comp patients) who had elevated blood pressure readings of 130/80 or greater. Essentially, 62.3% of the patients screened positive for anxiety. The compliance rate of the anxiety assessments among the provider staff was 74.75%.
She is looking at a second phase involving referral of these patients for further treatment of both anxiety and HTN.

Hi Laura,
If you could also have your NP connect with me regarding her DNP thesis, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you

I have an NP who did her DNP thesis (at Johns Hopkins) on BP screening and intervention during preemployment exams for both our own employees and those of external clients. If you would be interested in her findings, I’m sure she would be happy to share with you. Just let me know and I will connect you.

Good morning. I’m curious which of you are including blood pressure in your new employee onboarding process. We have been focused on blood pressure as a key metric and strategy for our employee health and well-being program and yet we don’t currently include this measurement in the pre-employment medical intake. If we were to offer blood pressure, it would be voluntary.
Thanks for any feedback you can offer.
