[MCOH-EH] Drug Testing at Medical Centers

Good morning,

1. Does your organization perform pre-employment drug testing?
Yes, we conduct a preemployment urine drug screen.
2. If yes, does your organization test for marijuana as part of the testing panel?
In compliance with California Assembly Bill 2188 (AB 2188)<https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB2188>, effective January 1, 2024, our organization does not make hiring decisions based on the presence of non-psychoactive cannabis metabolites, which are typically detected through urine drug testing. However, to maintain a drug-free workplace, we may conduct reasonable-suspicion testing of current employees while at work. Such testing is performed using a mouth swab methods designed to detect the presence of psychoactive THC, which indicates recent cannabis use and potential impairment.
