We have three hospitals and about 120 off site clinics/radiology and sx centers and we have trained the clinic directors and house supervisors on UDS collection. We made several packets for each director to have on hand with supplies, directions, and a sample COC form to keep on hand along with EAP information. It has worked well for us.

Dan,
It would be helpful to have at least two to three people on each shift, possibly charge nurses, CNO, security officers, etc, that are trained to do drug screens and either ETOH swabs and BAT for screening, then BAT or blood ETOH for confirmation. The multiples on each shift allow for those on PTO, etc. While blood is the last resort, if you do not have a BAT at the location and it's a non-regulated test (non-federal), then blood may be the only option for confirmation. But make certain that it is in the policies and procedures for your organization internally. Telemed via Teams, etc. is always an option if counseling is needed.
My opinion only.

**External Email**
Hello,
Our organization is acquiring another hospital that is greater than 25 miles from our main hospital campus and Employee Health office. I am trying to understand what other organizations are using for Fitness for Duty (Reasonable Suspicion) testing options for locations that are that far away from where we normally perform this type of testing.
Thank you,
Dan
