Hello Ms. Weaver,

Student volunteers are handled the same way as any volunteer.  They must provide proof of immunization for MMR, Varicella, Tetanus, flu (when appropriate),Hep B (if applicable - any possibility of sharps exposures/ injury), and 2-step TST.  If they don't have that information, we obtain titers or provide the vaccination free of charge.  The one difference with adult volunteers is minors (younger than 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or provide a note from a parent indicating they agree to have their child treated by our clinic.

I hope this helps.

How does your organization handle student or junior volunteers?  Do you provide immunizations to them, or do you require the student/junior volunteers to be immunized elsewhere prior to volunteering?

Are adult volunteers handled in a similar manner?

Thank you,

Meredith
