Man, wish I worked in Santa Barbara!

We have the same style of Employee Health as you describe below. We follow recommendations of the CDC as it relates to Infectious Disease, Immunizations for healthcare workers, EPIC (Infection Control), Oregon Health Authority (public health) (TB testing), local public health (Outbreaks and Infectious Disease follow up) and OSHA (safety and respiratory clearance, BBF exposure follow up) and SAIF (WC insurance carrier).

Our oversight is an MD specializing in Infectious Disease. He signs our orders and approves our protocols.

Good morning and happy Monday!!!

I am the manager of a hospital system employee health and safety department staffed by nurses. We are currently researching options for changing the medical oversight of our department and could use your help.

Can anyone point me in the direction to determine the regulation or laws that govern the employee health and safety function for hospital employees? The nurses in our department offer the following services:

At this time, we have a contracted physician sign standing orders for protocols above (including emergency management of adverse reactions to injections). We are looking at options to bring this in-house under our Director of Nursing and Chief Medical Officer (neither of whom specialize in employee or occupational health services).

How do others manage their nurse run departments? Who signs your orders? Who is your resource when developing new protocols/procedures?
