What type of respirator is used for employees with facial hair?  FDA does not approve N95's in this scenario.  Administration advising employees do a close shave and fit test for seal.  Thanks in advance.

The only request like this I can recall would be staff with HIV and the treating provider indicating they could not be around TB or TB  suspect patients.  We then just denied them using a respirator, so they essentially didn't work with specific patient populations. This was not a department or unit specific request, and the staff were aware of the inherent possibility of exposure given working in a hospital setting and were not considered front line staff (ER) staff.  The "no respirator use" could be accommodated.  To date, we have not seen requests like this for our employees with RA/immune modulating drugs.

Hello all
We have had requests from employees with asthma and other underlying conditions who have doctors writing notes to exclude them from working in certain areas of the hospital because they are at risk for contracting certain respiratory diseases and the flu. I am not in agreement because we have infection control PPE required for those on respiratory and contact precautions.

I am wondering if you have had the same experience and you have any policy to address this request.

Thanks,
