We do the same.  If their original department can accommodate the restrictions we keep them there. If not, we use other departments who can accommodate the restrictions and do not adjust their wages.

We try to keep them in their original department and working their usual hours. If there manager does not have any work for them to do then we place them in another department. We have a light duty cost center that they clock into so technically the injured employee is free help to the department.
