Sorry for everyone else if you didn’t want to read all this.., Deanna if I had your email at the bottom of the list I would just have emailed you personally.

I have a whole agenda for my Infection Control Committee. When I was new and inexperienced I met once a month, once I had a handle on things we switched to meeting Quarterly.

On my agenda we go over : Committee Reports of anything that involves Infection control from the Safety Committee, Environment of Care (including  my department inspections, Construction/ICRAS and the Water Plan for the last year or so), Emergency Preparedness, Ask for a report from the ER/Trauma committee meetings if pertain to IC, a report from Med Staff if it pertains to IC or antimicrobial stewardship, the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee, our patient Quality and QI/QA/PI meeting, and a report from our New Products committee…

Then I report my Surveillance including: Community Acquired and Reportable Conditions report (which may include my Local Health Department reports) , Healthcare Associated Infections (CLABSI, CAUTI, VENTs, Surgical Site infection and C. difficile since it is NHSN reportable,  Then do an update on Care Practices, such as any Surgery notes, Hand Hygiene, PPE/isolation/Isolation signage compliance or issues.. oh also here I may discuss any MDRO’s that I track or their prevalence in the community

Then we have and Employee Health report that discusses exposures and on the job Injuries including needlesticks, tallies of my vaccination compliance, how many given how many TB tests to follow up on ,etc. including contracted workers and providers, and during the months we have flu I do a report of vaccinations once we start, and then a report of how many positive tests once the season starts.

Then we have policy and procedure review, and if we have anything from the Laboratory (Like antibiograms, blood culture contaminants, specimen rejection policies, etc. )

Then if there is any Regulatory Readiness, hot topics, special education , etc. that we can talk about we discuss that then

Does anyone else have something else I may be leaving out or that I should add to my committee??

Tara

For those of you who work in the hospital setting, what types of things do you report to your Infection Control Committee monthly?  Quarterly?
