We are using CDC definition:   Prolonged close contact with use of appropriate PPE.

That would be within six feet of a COVID-19 + person for over several minutes without use of PPE.  We are following their guidelines for low-medium-high risk exposures with the exception of quarantines.  We use their “Additional Consideration” guidelines and allow exposed clinical staff to work with daily symptom screens, temps and wear a mask x14 days.

We have had one employee to employee transmission documented with one employee only working next to the other for an hour.

For the purposes of exposures, how are you defining "close contact"? A full shift? Less?

The business or pleasure doesn’t matter.  What is more important is did they embark on their plans when we had already communicated the message to avoid travel to a particular country.

We are furloughing people for 14 days with pay if they traveled to any of the high risk countries.

Thank you for this question. Equally interested in the responses. How many are planning to quarantine because of COVID19?

We are currently NOT quarantining, although this could change at any moment.

Our HR leadership has asked us to reach out to other health care colleagues for some guidance around employees that are or maybe quarantined because of COVID19.

If an employee is determined to be quarantined for 14 days because of inadvertent exposure and are clinically well, are they being paid and if so how.

The organization through CDC and local public health guidance is saying you must stay home and self monitor.

Are you paying them?

Are benefits continuing?

Do you bypass whatever you have in place related to necessary documentation after a days off threshold?

Is it a special payroll coding?

Is it PTO?

Is it different for your unionized workforce?

Thank you.
