We have had issues with one of the 2 parts of the rapid HIV test be falsely positive.  Our lab was concerned that the standard confirmatory test might not be sufficient to decisively rule out HIV.  We now submit a 6 ml sample so that they can automatically add on a HIV PCR viral load as an extra test in these situations.  Best, Tim
