We do accept home antigen test that are positive. Staff have been instructed to take a picture of the positive test sitting on a piece of paper that has written their Name,
DOB, Date of testing. We do active call monitoring and usually can verify the employee is ill when we call them. Our facility believes a positive is a positive no matter if it is PCR or home antigen and will be treated as a positive. Of course there are some
grey areas that we address on a case to case bases.
If they have a negative home antigen test, it may be a false negative so we instruct them to have a PCR test as well.
Symptomatic employee need a negative PCR test to come to work. Thereafter, a daily morning antigen home test is to be done before coming to work for a minimum of 4 days.
Employee may come to work as long as the home antigen morning test is negative. While there is a risk with any test of false negative early in course of infection a continued negative does mean likely less infectious even if eventually turns positive. The
employee will need to continue to careful masking regardless of results. The exception to this is those who are exposed and symptomatic who must stay out even if negative.
Sincerely Your Employee Health Nurse.

Hi Pam,
We accept home tests that are positive, and at this time we do not require proof. If the Home test is negative but the employee is having symptoms, we then have them come in for a PCR test.

Hi all,
What is your practice for getting staff tested if they complain of COVID-like symptoms? Do you require a lab test or does a home test work? Do you require proof of the positive test to be submitted to employee health? Any input is welcome.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Pam Caudill, BSN RN
