We dropped the door screening about a month ago after the CDC put out new information for hospitals.  We get away with that, because we have a sign posted at every public entrance that is used as a self-attestation for any employee or patient who walks through the doors, saying “I have no fever, no COVID symptoms, etc.”  If they do have a cough, they must put a mask on to proceed.  If they think they have COVID, they are to notify the front desk or return to their vehicle and call a number listed to proceed.

We still ask all HCP to self-screen for symptoms daily with a secure user-friendly app.  If their responses meet criteria for quarantine and testing, the app notifies them to remain OOW and gives instructions for self-scheduling testing.  (We allow home RATs in most cases but also make free PCRs available in multiple locations)   Those who test positive receive automated instructions on when to RTW.  We do maintain a clinical team that monitors results electronically and contacts HCP who warrant more extended isolation such as that based on self-reported immune status.

Happy Thanksgiving! Amy

WE used to screen all staff for COVID review the results and clear staff to go back to work .  With Omicron the system was overwhelmed and we stopped doing that.  Currently HCWs are asked to screen and test themselves when symptomatic based on communicated crtieria.  Occ Health is no longer involved in the RTW decision.

Caution: This message was sent from outside the University of Manitoba.

Throughout covid our employees have been asked to call eohs to review their symptoms and test when appropriate for covid and then manage rtw based on the cdc guidance for hcws.

We are now getting pushback from the same groups that wanted that approach to why call eohs when we need staff and colds are prevalent

My questions

If an employee is sick are they required to contact eohs?

If they have respiratory symptoms / covid symptoms does eohs review, test for covid , covid/ flu and manage rtw

Do you test for covid at all

Do you have employees call eohs at all.

As always

Thank you

Charlie
