Marissa,
We currently collect both urine AND a blood alcohol on every reasonable suspicion case that we process. We collect specimens and transfer to an outside lab following chain of custody. I cannot speak to the cost as it was not a driving
factor in our decision making since it is such a high risk / legal scenario.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Jennifer

Subject: [MCOH-EH] Fitness for Duty
Hello all,
What is your current process for a fitness for duty (reasonable suspicion case) ? Our lab is looking to discontinue using our breath alcohol analyzer due to costs, training, etc. We only use this for fitness for duty cases. I believe we
tried to stick with the least invasive procedure and that is why we’ve used this instead of a blood draw. Just wanted to see what others’ processes look like.
Thanks!
