Hi Marianne,
This APIC “Guide to the Elimination of MRSA Transmission in Hospital Settings” addresses HCW decolonization (when/whether
to do it, rationale, regimens, caveats) starting on page 61. It’s from 2010 but still solid guidance.
Basically advises not to decolonize unless the HCW case is linked to ongoing hospital transmission. Then if you do decolonize, know it’s for short term eradication and not long term (and there is a failure rate
even in the short term.)
Hope this helps,
Melanie

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [MCOH-EH] MRSA decolonization protocol for HCW
Hello! Does anyone have an MRSA decolonization protocol (for healthcare workers, not patients) you’d be willing to share?
Thank you!
Marianne
