Is the 50 years + employment retention for BBP exposures a policy specific to your healthcare facility?  I don’t remember this being part of the OSHA regulation. 

Appreciate the discussion on this topic.  We are currently re-visiting how we retain our employee health exposure and medical records.

We follow the OSHA ruling to keep all records for 30yrs + employment.  We have not ever notified OSHA of destruction, but records are stored electronically now and we don’t have destroy dates.

 

Exposure records are 50yrs + employment for all BBP exposures.

  I was wondering if someone can share their experience with employee medical record retention . Do you all follow the rule of preserving the records for duration of employment PLUS thirty years as outlined in the CFR 1910.1020??

  Do you notify OSHA as recommended when you want to destroy the records ??
