Our EMR is connected to our HRIS system but some separations do not show until the end of the pay period the termination happens.

There are many groups in the organizatio0n that need to know this information so HR sends out a separation spreadsheet every Friday to the group (IS, Security, parking, etc.)

Subject: [MCOH-EH] Termination Surveillance

External:

Fellow Med Ctr Leaders-

We are trying to get our heads around our various surveillance programs, and in particular how to capture termination evaluations. Whether termination is sudden (“you’re fired”) or advance notice (“I’m retiring in 6 months”), there is no automatic notification to Employee Health of the plan for termination so we are unable to capture the employee to perform whatever surveillance action is needed at term.

What kind of tools or tricks have you developed locally to address this? I know I need to work with our HR and help them understand the regulatory compliance aspect, but until they finish their current HRIS transition, I don’t anticipate any headway.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice!

David
