1. Does your organization perform pre-employment drug testing? Yes, we conduct salvia drug testing which is sent out to a third party for resulting and MRO review when needed.
2. If yes, does your organization test for marijuana as part of the testing panel? Yes, marijuana is still illegal on the Navajo Nation with zero tolerance. We also recognize that several health care related licenses still recognize marijuana as an unallowed illicit drug in most states, e.g. pharmacy, nursing, medical providers, etc.

Good morning,

1. Does your organization perform pre-employment drug testing?
Yes, we conduct a preemployment urine drug screen.
2. If yes, does your organization test for marijuana as part of the testing panel?
In compliance with California Assembly Bill 2188 (AB 2188), effective January 1, 2024, our organization does not make hiring decisions based on the presence of non-psychoactive cannabis metabolites, which are typically detected through urine drug testing. However, to maintain a drug-free workplace, we may conduct reasonable-suspicion testing of current employees while at work. Such testing is performed using a mouth swab methods designed to detect the presence of psychoactive THC, which indicates recent cannabis use and potential impairment.

Thank you.

Dartmouth Health is taking a careful look at our pre-employment drug testing policy to determine if adjustments are needed. I would truly appreciate responses from my MCOH peers to the following two short questions on your organization’s pre-employment drug testing program. Responses will help guide our thinking as we review our own program.

  1. Does your organization perform pre-employment drug testing?
  2. If yes, does your organization test for marijuana as part of the testing panel?

Thanks in advance for your help!
