UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, uses the SAMHSA panel for pre-employment drug testing. This includes:

• Marijuana (THC metabolite)
• Cocaine metabolite (benzoylecgonine)
• Amphetamines
• Amphetamine
• Methamphetamine
• MDMA
• MDA
• Opiates
• Codeine
• Morphine
• 6-Acetylmorphine
• Hydrocodone
• Hydromorphone
• Oxycodone
• Oxymorphone
• Phencyclidine (PCP)

For Probable Cause/Fitness for Duty testing, we also test for fentanyl. Per my literature review, fentanyl and propofol are the most commonly abused substances in a healthcare setting (other than ethanol), but currently propofol is very expensive (~$350 per test), so we don't do it. Will likely add once the price comes down. 

We recognize medical marijuana use only when it is authorized through the Texas Compassionate Use Program.

1. Does your organization perform pre-employment drug testing?
2. If yes, does your organization test for marijuana as part of the testing panel?
