Dan,
It would be helpful to have at least two to three people on each shift, possibly charge nurses, CNO, security officers, etc, that are trained to do drug screens and either ETOH swabs and BAT for screening, then BAT or blood ETOH for confirmation. The multiples
on each shift allow for those on PTO, etc. While blood is the last resort, if you do not have a BAT at the location and it's a non-regulated test (non-federal), then blood may be the only option for confirmation. But make certain that it is in the policies
and procedures for your organization internally. Telemed via Teams, etc. is always an option if counseling is needed.
My opinion only.

Subject: [MCOH-EH] Fitness for Duty alcohol and drug testing for employees that work in a location far from hospital campus
**External Email**
Hello,
Our organization is acquiring another hospital that is greater than 25 miles from our main hospital campus and Employee Health office. I am trying to understand what other organizations are using for Fitness
for Duty (Reasonable Suspicion) testing options for locations that are that far away from where we normally perform this type of testing.
Thank you,
Dan
