Professional Development Day for School LibrariansBuilding Relationships
with Your Learning Community



Are you a school librarian looking for ways to connect with your students,
teachers, and administrators? Do you want to learn more about how to uphold
intellectual freedom in your school library? If so, you won't want to miss
CLC's Professional Development Day for School Librarians.

This full-day event will feature speakers and discussions that will help
you build relationships with your learning community and advocate for your
library's role in supporting learning and inquiry.

Speakers include:

*First Amendment Court Cases that Affirm Intellectual Freedom in School
Libraries*
              Deborah Caldwell-Stone, Director, American Library
Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom


*The Importance of Strong Policies and Communication with Your School
Administrators              *Pat Scales, Retired School Librarian, Author,
Former Chair of ALA's Intellectual Freedom Committee, Writes the Scales on
Cen

*Protecting Intellectual Freedom at Guilford Public Schools*
              Paul Freeman, Superintendent of Schools, Guilford Public
Schools

You will also have the opportunity to network with other school librarians and
exchange ideas and best practices.

One of the highlights of the event will be the book talks by levels -
elementary, middle, and high school. You will hear from fellow librarians
about their favorite books and how they use them in their libraries. You
will also have the chance to share your own book recommendations with your
peers.

Registration is open. For just $35 for members and $65 for non-members, you
get a full day of learning and of course, lunch and snacks. We encourage
you to register early because we anticipate the event will fill up quickly.
