[CASL-L] Grade 3-4 States Books

Hi Elaine,

I was looking for state books last year and all the series were on a middle
school reading level, but I found one by ABDO Publishing that I purchased
and really like. The books are divided well for researching a state and many
students also check out the books for pleasure reading. The series is called
the United States Series (Checkerboard) and you can find more info here on

The pictures are attractive with nice captions and each book has a fast
facts section that the students find easy to read. The books are all around
a 4th grade reading level. I would definitely recommend the entire series.
It was well worth it to update my states books which were all from 1992 and
1988 prior to this purchase.
